What prf filler actually does

PRF is the next step on from PRP. The blood is spun slower and with no anticoagulant, so the platelets, white cells and fibrin stay together and set into a soft gel. That gel can be injected like a filler — it gives some volume straight away, and because the fibrin releases growth factors over days rather than minutes, it keeps prompting collagen long after. It is entirely your own tissue, so there is nothing to be allergic to and nothing to dissolve.

What happens at your appointment

Draw

A few small vials, the same as any blood test.

Spin

A slower spin than PRP, with no additives, which is what lets the fibrin form.

Numb

Topical numbing while the blood is in the centrifuge.

Inject

Placed where you have lost support. You will be swollen leaving, and it settles over a few days.

Same blood, different spin. PRP is a liquid and is used to improve skin quality. PRF is spun slower with no anticoagulant so it sets into a gel, which means it can add volume as well — and it releases its growth factors over days rather than all at once.
