What skinpen microneedling actually does

A pen with sterile micro-needles creates thousands of controlled channels in the skin. Your body responds by flooding the area with collagen and elastin. It is one of the few treatments that genuinely changes skin quality rather than sitting on top of it — and it is safe for all skin tones, unlike many lasers.

What happens at your appointment

Numb

30 minutes of strong topical numbing. You will feel pressure and vibration, not pain.

Treat

The pen passes over the face at a depth matched to your concern — deeper for scars, shallower for texture.

Infuse

Hyaluronic acid or PRP applied while channels are open, so it absorbs far deeper than it ever could at home.

SkinPen Microneedling FAQs

Three minimum, spaced four weeks apart. Deep icepick or boxcar scarring often takes 4–6. Anyone promising you a fix in one session is not being straight with you. The good news is the improvement compounds and it is permanent.

With proper numbing it is a 3 out of 10 — pressure and vibration more than pain. The forehead and along the jaw are the spikier spots. We numb for a full 30 minutes; we do not rush it.

Like a moderate sunburn on day one. Most people are back to normal-with-makeup by day two. If you have something important, give yourself three days.

For acne scarring, yes — the growth factors from your own blood meaningfully speed healing and improve the final result. For general texture and glow, plain microneedling is plenty.

Yes, and it is often the better choice. Microneedling does not use heat or light, so the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is much lower than with many lasers.
